The Secretariat for the Implementation of Spanish or SIS was formed under Cabinet Directive on September 9th 2004. Our objectives are:

1. To facilitate a new learning environment through which the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago will learn and effectively utilise Spanish as the First Foreign Language (SAFFL) by the year 2020.
2. To promote fruitful and effective intercultural dialogue.
3. To promote public awareness and support for the Spanish as the First Foreign Language (SAFFL) initiative.
