Process
After acceptance at an approved tertiary level institution (TLI) to pursue an approved programme, citizens of Trinidad and Tobago will receive a GATE Application Form during the registration period.
Students pursuing approved undergraduate programmes will complete the GATE Application Form to access funding for 100% of their tuition fees.
Students pursuing post-graduate programmes at local and regional public TLIs will complete the GATE Application Form to access funding for 50% of their tuition fees.
Students pursuing approved post-graduate programmes at approved private TLIs will complete the GATE Application Form to access funding for 50% of their tuition fees to a maximum of $10,000 or $5,000 for approved distance learning programmes.
All students are required to provide documentation to their TLIs as per GATE Application Form.
Post-graduate students are required to make arrangements to pay their portion of tuition fees on submission of their GATE Application Form and provide evidence of payment via a copy of the receipt.
At the time of registration, students must lodge their completed GATE application forms with the TLI for further processing.
GATE is managed by the Funding and Grants Administration Division of the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training.
