From November 02 – 06, 2009 the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) will host its 2nd Annual Quality Assurance Week with the theme “Improving Quality Assurance in Higher Education through Institutional Development” which promises to have activities for everyone.
Quality Assurance Week, 2009 aims to develop a framework for the dissemination of good practice in Quality Assurance in Higher Education in Trinidad & Tobago by involving stakeholders – institutions, students, professional bodies, awarding bodies and the general public in various, workshops, displays and panel discussions on issues related to the promotion of quality in higher education.
Students and members of the public can visit the public displays at National libraries, James Park, Tobago (Nov. 3) Harris Promenade (Nov. 4) and Brian Lara Promenade (Nov. 5) and speak with ACTT’s Staff to get information and discuss issues related to higher education. Visitors to the displays will learn more about the Council’s services and acquire information to make informed choices regarding programmes offered at post secondary and tertiary education institutions, both locally and internationally.
The Council has collaborated with several registered tertiary institutions during this week to host activities targeted at Students, Educators and Institutional personnel which will promote the integral role and need for quality assurance in tertiary education. These activities include:
- Sunday November 01 – Interfaith Service hosted by University of Southern Caribbean
- Monday November 02 - Panel discussion hosted by University of Trinidad and Tobago
- Wednesday November 04 - Institutional workshop hosted by Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business entitled “Enhancing Programme Design through Indigenous Content and Context in Tertiary Education”.
- Friday November 06, Caribbean Area Network for Quality Assurance in Tertiary Education (CANQATE) Core Group Forum hosted by the University of the West Indies. In 2010 ACTT will host the (CANQATE) Conference in Trinidad.
