Retraining Graduates Make History with Regional Certification
The Honourable Fitzgerald Jeffrey, Minister of State in the Ministry of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education will bring greetings at the Cycle 19 Graduation Ceremony and Exhibition of the Retraining Programme on Wednesday September 9, 2009 at 2 PM. The event will be held at Rovanel’s Resort, Store Bay Local Road, Bon Accord, Tobago. The Honourable Orville London, Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly will deliver the Feature Address.
The theme of the Graduation is “Realizing Your Potential”. The Retraining Programme provides courses to help individuals between the ages of 25-45 to integrate or re-integrate themselves into the workforce. The Programme focuses on retooling and re-skilling citizens to enhance their opportunities to access both sustainable employment and self-employment. The Cycle 19 graduates will be the first people outside of schools in the entire Caribbean region to receive Caribbean Vocational Qualifications (CVQs). CVQs are awards that represent the achievement of a set of competencies that define the core work practices of an occupational area consistent with the levels articulated within the regional qualification framework. The graduates will be able to use their CVQ awards to demonstrate their competency in their skill areas all over the Caribbean region.
