Rehabilitating Inmates Through Training and Retraining Cycle 3 Graduation
One hundred and seven (107) trainees graduated from the Rehabilitating Inmates through Training and Retraining programme during the ceremony held on the Wednesday August 5, 2009 at the Prisons Training College in Arima.
The Rehabilitating Inmates through Training and Retraining programme is the result of a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education and the Ministry of National Security. It is meant to prepare male and female inmates for their eventual release, providing them with training in vocational and life skills areas, so they are better prepared for employment and for the challenges of life after their imprisonment.
Trainees take classes in several skill areas including electrical installation, carpentry, grow box, and tile laying to name a few.
